Welcome to ChefUp. By downloading, installing, or using the ChefUp mobile application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. About ChefUp

ChefUp is a food waste reduction app that generates AI-powered recipes from your ingredients. The App is operated by Headwater Labs.

2. Account Registration

To use ChefUp, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

3. Free & Premium Plans

Free Plan

• 3 rescue recipes per week
• Save up to 5 recipes
• 15 image scans per week (barcode scanning is unlimited)
• Pantry and expiry tracking

Premium Plan

• Unlimited rescue recipes
• Unlimited saved recipes
• Unlimited image scanning
• Family profiles with combined dietary filters

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Premium subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By subscribing, you agree to their respective payment terms.

• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's App Store or Play Store settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their refund policies.
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice.

5. AI-Generated Content

Recipes are generated by artificial intelligence based on the ingredients you provide. While we strive for accuracy:

• Recipes are suggestions, not professional dietary advice. Always verify ingredients if you have allergies or dietary restrictions.
• We do not guarantee that AI-generated recipes are suitable for specific medical conditions.
• Nutritional information (macros, calories) is estimated and may not be precise.
• Cooking times are approximate — always ensure food is properly cooked before consuming.

6. Food Safety Disclaimer

Important: ChefUp provides expiry date tracking as a helpful guide, but you are solely responsible for determining whether food is safe to eat. Expiry dates shown in the app are based on information you provide. Always use your own judgement regarding food freshness and safety. ChefUp is not liable for any illness or harm resulting from consuming expired or unsafe food.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the App
• Upload harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content

8. Intellectual Property

The ChefUp app, including its design, code, branding, and content, is owned by Headwater Labs. AI-generated recipes are provided for your personal use. You may share recipes with friends and family but may not commercially redistribute them.

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time via the Settings screen in the App or by emailing hello@chefup.io. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days.

10. Service Availability

We aim to keep ChefUp available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The App requires an internet connection for recipe generation, syncing, and account features. Some features (pantry viewing, saved recipes) may work offline with cached data.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChefUp and Headwater Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the App in the preceding 12 months.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App. Continued use of ChefUp after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
